About Girma
EthioJazz, rooted and roaming
One of Ethiopia's esteemed saxophonists from the golden age of Ethio-Jazz, Girma Woldemichael began playing clarinet as a teenager in Addis Ababa before becoming a sought-after saxophonist with Wabe Shebelle Band, Ethio Stars and many of Ethiopia's biggest vocalists. After leaving Ethiopia in 1991, he rebuilt his life in Toronto while continuing to perform across Canada, the United States and around the world.
